Brother Moses And Sister May

November 29th, 2010

Brother Moses and sister May went shuffling down the line
Keeping one step ahead of the law takin each day at a time
Ain’t nobody in this damn world I’d rather be with than you
Sister May said reaching for a bottle holdin just enough liquor for two

Brother Moses I knew him well he grew tired as the years rolled by
Long ago he raised a little money it was gone in the wink of an eye
Sister May dark child of the city wearin somebody’s dress that’s torn
Fell for her man like a stone in the ocean it was rainin the night she was born

Brother Moses and sister May
Wastin there lives away
Brother Moses and sister May
Just thankful for one more day

Theres a crack in the sky where the sun peers through
But it ain’t anywhere round here
The story goes when you see it first time
You can’t help but shed a tear
In the dust and pity the filth and grime
That turns out to be your bed
You can dance in your dreams and trouble
Seems to leave your weary head

How does it happen when do you know
If it’s love or something else
Your huggin the streets and the worlds looking pretty
While the skyline gentle melts

Brother Moses and sister May
Wastin their lives away
Brother Moses and sister May
Just thankful for one more day
